Reflecting on My First Year as 4 Buyers’ Broker/Owner

Plus, a few thoughts on what 2026 may bring

2025 was a big year for all of us at 4 Buyers. As you probably know, our founder, Rona Fischman, kicked off her well-deserved retirement at the end of 2024 after a storied 30-year real estate career, and I stepped into the role of broker/owner in January after 14 years with the company.

Looking back after my first year at the helm, I’m proud of what we–myself along with agents Pearl, Alex and Michaela–accomplished both individually and as a team. Despite a very weird and challenging Greater Boston real estate market, we remained committed to the values that have always guided 4 Buyers and continued to create happy clients.

Here’s what one happy client had to say: “I can't say enough good things about Pearl Emmons. Thanks to her, me and my family achieved our dream of buying a two-family home in Somerville…We plan for this house to be our forever home, but if we were buying again, we would 100% work with 4 Buyers. If you want honest, super responsive, skillful, knowledgeable, and down-to-earth folks as your realtors, they're the ones!” – Lisa P., September 2025

As a result of always putting our clients’ best interests above all else, we were still able to close some great deals last year–our buyers found their dream homes in 15 towns across Greater Boston, from Jamaica Plain to Maynard. Our largest deal was the $2.125 million purchase of a Cambridge condo, and our most unique deal was the $1.9 million purchase of a one-of-a-kind property right on the Charles River–the buyers had been waiting nearly 10 years for a home like that to go on the market, and their patience paid off.

In addition to closing deals, we also unveiled our fresh and energetic new brand, which helped bring some new clients through the door. We worked with graphic designer Julia Rand, a former happy client, to create a new logo and color palette, as well as a more informative and user-friendly website, and we’re very happy with the results.

Looking ahead to 2026, the only thing we can predict is that the Greater Boston real estate market will continue to be unpredictable. So far, though, things are looking good. We’ve had a handful of motivated buyers reach out to us over the past two weeks–more than we’ve seen in previous years. I also think a surprising amount of inventory came out since the New Year.

We’re also keeping an eye on some new regulations here in Massachusetts that will be affecting our buyers–namely, the residential home inspection law, which is intended to protect prospective buyers’ right to a home inspection. While this is something we support and have been advocating for years, we’re very curious to see if it's actually going to change anything and be better for buyers. We’ll keep you posted.

Despite the ups and downs that we’re all likely to face in 2026, you can be sure that at 4 Buyers our goal will remain the same: to get our clients the best house for their money. If you’re going to be looking for a home this year, contact us today to learn how we can help make your dream of home ownership a reality.
